Ono conducts critical and theoretical research of print, film, and television media, specifically focusing on representations of race, gender, sexuality, class, and nationality. He has published a number of journal articles and books, including "Contemporary Media Culture and the Remnants of a Colonial Past" (Peter Lang, 2009).
Ono holds a Ph.D. in rhetorical studies from the University of Iowa, and an M.A. in communication from Miami University.
