Jan. 6, 2013 – Fans can begin voting Jan. 7 for the couple they want to win a free, all-inclusive, University of Utah-themed wedding, valued at approximately $60,000. The winning couple will be married at the Rice-Eccles Stadium, March 8.
The two finalist couples will sit before a judging panel Jan. 7, 9-10 a.m. and will be interviewed by Marci Lyons of Bride Access, Kim Preciado with P5 Productions, Ryan Lawrence, 2013 winning groom, and University of Utah mascot Swoop. The interview will be broadcast on ABC 4’s Good Things Utah, and the full interview will be available at Ultimate Utah Wedding after 10 a.m. Jan 7.
Once the winning couple is chosen, the wedding planning begins. The Ultimate Utah Wedding brings together vendors that take into consideration the style and personality of the couple. Each vendor will present two options that the public can vote on to create this year’s Ultimate Utah Wedding.
Meet the Finalists:
- Colton and Ashley are both University of Utah students. Colton is in the architecture program, and Ashley is studying exercise and sport science. They have been dating for nearly two years but first met in 2007 at Pioneer Bible Camp in Eden, Utah. Ashley has dreamed of having an Ultimate Utah Wedding since it first started 4 years ago. They hope to win because they say it is difficult to pay for and plan a wedding while they are both full-time students with part-time jobs.
“We are huge Ute fans and would be honored to have our dream wedding at the Rice-Eccles Football Stadium,” they said. “It would be a blessing for both of us and our families if we won.”
- Jordan and Alexandria knew each other in high school but say fate didn’t bring them together until a year ago. They both love athletics, health and the U. Alexandria has two children, Koda and Gracelyn. Koda’s cancer treatment took place at Primary Children’s Medical Center, and they say driving by the U of U stadium made those difficult times more bearable for Koda. When they heard about the Ultimate Utah Wedding from a cousin, they had just postponed their wedding date to figure out how to afford it all.
“We would be eternally grateful to win this wedding, but regardless of what happens, we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Ultimate Utah Wedding,” they said.
