People aged 18 to 25 have the lowest voter turnout rates of any other age group. According to Wendy Davis, a doctoral candidate in political science at the U, it is critical that all people, especially young people, get out and vote. Everyone needs to be in the habit of voting says Davis. She encourages everyone to involve young adults in the process of voting. If you are a parent or grandparent, she says to tell the youngest eligible voters of your experiences. Tell them how to vote and make sure they know the importance of voting. Bring them with you to the polling place and show them how to vote if they are first-time voters. Teach them they should research ideas, watch debates and socialize with friends and neighbors in order to make informed decisions.
