Convincing hazard communication

With Hurricane Matthew bearing down on the southeast Atlantic coast, residents are evacuating the likely hardest-hit areas, and officials are striving to communicate strongly the hazard the storm faces in order to convince people in the evacuation zone to leave. University of Utah Professor Tom Cova recently published a study of the challenges facing hazard communicators and on “Who should do what when” in an emergency.
