With the recent murder of Virginia teen Nicole Lovell who was heavily engaged in social media and met one of her alleged murderers on instant messenger application Kik, many have questioned whether there should be an age limit on social media and how parents can best monitor their children’s social media accounts. Assistant professor Avery Holton in the University of Utah’s Department of Communication is available to discuss best practices for social media use by children and young adults.
