March is Women’s History Month

Former Salt Lake Mayor Deedee Corradini, journalist Louise Degn and activist Esther Landa – all three deceased women made an indelible mark on Utah history, and all three are examples of women who have their personal histories preserved in Special Collections at the J. Willard Marriott Library. The archivists in Special Collections open the door to anyone interested in learning more about these fascinating women. The hundreds of diaries, letters, photographs, films and scrapbooks document the history of all types of Utah women: activists, homemakers, politicians, researchers and professors as well as television stars and church members. The Aileen H. Clyde 20th Century Women’s Legacy Archive and other collections chronicle the stories of more than 300 women. Archivist Julia Huddleston is available to discuss the women’s collections.
