Venezuela President Maduro and a recall referendum

Unrest continues in Venezuela as protestors take to the streets to demand a recall referendum to end President Nicolas Maduro’s socialist rule. Sam Handlin is assistant professor in the Department of Political Science, is available to speak on this developing story. His research and teaching interests are in the comparative politics of developing countries, with a regional emphasis on Latin America and a substantive focus on party systems, representation, and political regimes. He is the author of the 2013 article, “Survey Research and Social Class in Venezuela: Evaluating Alternative Measures and their Impact on Assessments of Class Voting,” published in Latin American Politics and Society.  His recent courses at the University of Utah include “Politics of Latin America,” “New Democracies,” “Political Change” and “Introduction to Comparative Politics.”
