Why it’s important to pay attention to presidential debates

Over 70 percent of voters say they have already decided who they will be choosing on election day. This leaves a large section of undecided voters. In 2012, the debates swayed opinion, this was shown when Barack Obama’s support took a significant dip after his poor performance in the first debate. The debates this year have been hotly anticipated and should be extremely interesting and entertaining. According to Morgan Lyon Cotti of the U’s Hinckley Institute of Politics, the debates are a chance for voters to hear straight from the candidates and see how they stack up against each other.
